Business Planning in Spain 2026 – Workshop Review

On 13 January, we kicked off 2026 at DeskSpace with a focused, practical Business Planning Workshop led by Angus Lyon. The session brought together a small group of business owners who stepped away from the day-to-day to reflect, plan, and think strategically about the year ahead.

If you run a business, you already know how easily the daily to-do list can take over. Tasks multiply, decisions pile up, and before long you are busy without always feeling clear.

Michael Gerber, author of The E-Myth, famously distinguishes between working in your business and working on your business. The workshop created intentional space for the second. Not as a luxury, but as a necessary part of building a business that grows rather than simply keeps you occupied.

What happened in the workshop

Over three hours, participants were guided through a structured but flexible process designed to create clarity and momentum.

Together, we:

  • Reflected on 2025
Participants reviewed goals, successes, and challenges, identifying what genuinely worked and what no longer deserved their energy.
  • Explored five proven business growth strategies
Angus shared practical, grounded approaches that sparked discussion and immediate ideas for application.
  • Set clear goals for 2026
Each attendee defined priorities and created a focused 12-week plan. Long enough to make meaningful progress, short enough to stay motivating.
  • Worked through real business challenges
The small group format allowed for open discussion, personalised coaching, and thoughtful feedback tailored to each business.

The atmosphere was open, supportive, and purposeful. Conversations moved easily between strategy, mindset, and practical next steps.

Here’s what attendees said about the workshop:
“It was a great session. Thank you!”
“Being proactive, setting achievable goals, 12-week planning and focusing on the end results — lovely to meet people in the community and meet new people. Great location, view, space. Thank you, Suzanne and Angus!”
“I’ve come away with exactly what I needed: renewed focus. I now have a 12-week plan to focus on two key things and hopefully show real progress.”
“Inspirational and informative — great session, looking forward to the next one.”

Why the environment mattered

One thing participants commented on repeatedly was the value of stepping into a different environment. Away from usual desks, interruptions, and routines, thinking became clearer and conversations deeper.

At DeskSpace, we see this again and again. The space you are in, the people around you, and the energy in the room all influence how you think and plan. Sometimes the biggest shift comes simply from changing where you sit down to think.

What’s next

This workshop confirmed the value of creating space for reflection, planning, and shared learning. Future sessions will build on this format, keeping groups small and the focus practical.
